Imphal, August 25, 2026: The Manipur University Teachers’ Association (MUTA) has congratulated Dr. Pukhrambam Lilabati Devi, Assistant Professor(S-3) in the Department of Dance and Music, Manipur University, on her selection for the prestigious National Award to Teachers of HEIs & Polytechnics 2026.
The award, conferred by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, will be presented at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 5 on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
According to MUTA, Dr. Lilabati Devi is among 21 awardees selected from higher educational institutions and polytechnics across India. She is also the only awardee from Northeast India in the category.
MUTA described the honour as a proud achievement not only for Dr. Lilabati Devi but also for Manipur University, the teaching community and the entire Northeast region.
Dr. Lilabati Devi, a former treasurer of MUTA, has contributed to teaching, academic engagement and the preservation and promotion of Manipur’s cultural heritage through music and dance. The association said her work has helped nurture young minds while carrying forward the state’s distinctive artistic and cultural traditions.
MUTA expressed hope that the national recognition would encourage her to continue contributing to teaching, research and the promotion of the performing arts.
The association added that her achievement would serve as an inspiration to teachers and students, particularly those from Northeast India, and demonstrate how dedication, sincerity and excellence in education can earn recognition at the national level.
