Thirty candidates, including 20 from Manipur University, to face interviews for International recruitment drive on October 22; results expected the same evening.
Imphal, October 21, 2026: A 20-member delegation representing six Japanese social welfare corporations arrived at Manipur University on Wednesday to recruit candidates for employment in Japan, marking another step in the University’s efforts to connect vocational education with overseas career opportunities.
The recruitment drive, organised by the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development (DVSSD), Manipur University, in association with NSDC International and other participating organisations, will be held on Thursday, October 22.
A total of 30 candidates are scheduled to appear for the interviews, including 20 students from Manipur University’s DVSSD and 10 candidates from Siliguri.
Dr. Nambram Amulkumar, Head of DVSSD, said the visiting delegation comprises senior officials and representatives of six Japanese companies, accompanied by officials from NSDC International, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Zenken Corporation.
The recruitment interviews will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm on Thursday. The selection process will include group interviews, personal interviews and other assessments to identify candidates suitable for employment with the participating organisations.
According to Dr. Amulkumar, the results are expected to be announced on Thursday evening after the completion of the interviews.
Six Japanese Organisations Participating
The participating organisations are Social Welfare Corporation Fukushi Gakudan, Social Welfare Corporation Life no Gakkou, Social Welfare Corporation Gasshoen, Social Welfare Corporation Mineyama, Social Welfare Corporation Kuneikai and Social Welfare Corporation Goshiki.
These organisations operate in different parts of Japan, including Tokyo, Miyagi, Kyoto, Gunma and Fukushima.
Several already employ Indian candidates, while others have recruited Indian workers who are expected to join their organisations in the coming months.
Social Welfare Corporation Goshiki, based in Fukushima, is participating in a recruitment initiative in India for the first time.
The Japanese delegation includes Tanaka Nobuya, President of Life no Gakkou; Iida Daisuke, President of Fukushi Gakudan; Mori Kazushige, President of Gasshoen; Kushida Tasuku, President of Mineyama; Obayashi Takamitsu, Managing Director of Kuneikai; and Iwaya Katsuyoshi, Facility Head of Goshiki.
Representatives of Zenken Corporation are also taking part in the recruitment programme.
The Indian delegation includes Anshul Singhal, Deputy General Manager, NSDC International; Masotmi Zimik, State Engagement Officer, NSDC; and Bhavyaa Bisht, Senior Analyst, NSDC International.
Japanese Language Training and Career Opportunities
Dr. Amulkumar encouraged young people interested in working in Japan to approach the Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development for information about training programmes and overseas employment opportunities.
He said candidates who have passed Class XII or completed graduation, as well as those possessing a one-year diploma or certificate in hospitality, may contact the Department for guidance on suitable career pathways.
The Department also provides Japanese language training, an important component in preparing candidates for employment in Japan.
The initiative is particularly relevant for young people in Manipur seeking opportunities beyond the limited employment options available locally. Through institutional training, language preparation and direct interaction with overseas employers, students can gain a clearer understanding of the qualifications and skills required for international employment.
Unlike recruitment processes conducted entirely through intermediaries, the placement drive will allow candidates to interact directly with representatives of the Japanese organisations.
The arrival of six Japanese employers at Manipur University also reflects the growing role of educational institutions in connecting skill development with international employment opportunities.
The immediate focus, however, remains Thursday’s interviews. The number of candidates who secure employment opportunities will become clear only after the selection results are announced.
For the 30 candidates preparing to face the visiting employers, October 22 could mark an important step towards beginning a professional career in Japan.
