Manipur University Weapon Exhibition Introduces Students to Defence Careers

Imphal, October 10, 2026: Students at Manipur University explored career opportunities in the Armed Forces during a weapon exhibition that combined an equipment display with guidance on recruitment and officer-level entry.

Organised as part of a two-day seminar at the building housing the Department of National Security Studies and Department of Yoga, the exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Moirangthem Premjit Singh, Registrar of Manipur University.

Major Rajkumar Sanjeev of the Assam Rifles interacted with students, outlining routes into officer-level positions, recruitment procedures and employment opportunities across other ranks in the security forces. The interaction focused on helping students understand available career pathways and the requirements for pursuing them.

Students, research scholars and faculty members visited the exhibition, where weapons and related equipment were on display. Visitors had an opportunity to observe the equipment firsthand and learn about the work of the Armed Forces and other security forces.

Career awareness was a central focus of the programme. Alongside introducing students to equipment used by security personnel, the exhibition brought them into direct contact with a serving officer for information on defence-sector employment.

For students considering a career in uniform, the programme offered an introduction to recruitment pathways and an opportunity to connect their interest in national security with future career choices.
