Manipur University on Monday inaugurated a two-week Refresher Course on “Advances in Physical Education, Sports Sciences, and Yoga”, with Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) Prof. R.K. Hemakumar Singh emphasising the need to strengthen scientific knowledge, research capabilities and continuous professional development in the rapidly evolving fields of physical education, sports science and yoga.
Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) Prof. R.K. Hemakumar Singh said universities have a responsibility to produce objective academic research capable of helping society understand complex issues. He appreciated the Department of Anthropology for publishing a timely volume devoted to Manipur’s continuing unrest and expressed hope that the research would contribute to informed academic discussions beyond the state.
The health camp was jointly organised by the Manipur University Health Centre (MUHC), Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) and Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Langol, with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and improving the overall well-being of the university community.
Dr. Thangjam Robert Singh of Manipur University participated as an expert in a biotechnology brainstorming session in Guwahati, highlighting the scope of multidisciplinary research for sustainable use of North-East India’s rich plant genetic resources.

In Manipur, proposals are examined by the State Library Planning Committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, before being recommended for assistance under different RRRLF schemes.
The NSS Cell, Manipur University, organised the State-level launch of Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, attended by Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh and around 1,100 NSS volunteers and youth participants.
